About Us

Better Together YYC provides companionship, transportation and advocacy for all appointments, events, shopping, mental and emotional support. An experienced team of caregivers offer problem solving support around new and everchanging challenges, and help to ease the confusion of appointments, procedures, and everyday life. Transition support for moves between home and facilities (or facility to facility). Our goal is to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing by ensuring our clients have the support they need to live life fully and independently.

A successful outing isn't always about the destination.

It's about everything that happens along the way.

The extra five minutes.

The forgotten pair of glasses.

The walker that needs to come along.

A wonderful companion / caregiving support for us through dementia. Our friend has no family locally, so these companions are vital. They are calm, caring and very kind. They visit consistently and regularly, really getting to know our friend. They are creative in their approach, treating our friend like a friend. Companions use manipulatives, books, photos and journals to get to know and engage with our friend. They are competent and comfortable in helping our friend walk when appropriate, or with a wheelchair, using all the facilities available, such as the garden, bistro, balconies, patios, common room and bedroom.

The companions keep an eye on our friend's immediate needs, from clothes and soaps, to being alert to physical and emotional needs, reading body language as well as vocal language. They also take time to keep me posted on the progression of perceived care needs. They have, on occasion, been willing to accompany our friend to hospital and dental appointments, and our friend really is calmer with their presence.

Without their consistent visits, our friend would have been more alone. They really make their contribution feel like our friend has a community, and a care circle. - Friend of Client
